The entity known as Unicorn Theatre is made up of two organisations:
- Caryl Jenner Productions Limited (known as CJP)
- Unicorn Children's Centre [limited by guarantee] (known as UCC)
CJP was founded in 1947, and it is responsible for creating the performances and education projects which happen inside the theatre building.

UCC was set up in 2000 in order to raise funds for the new theatre building, and now oversees the day-to-day running of the building itself, as well as managing the programme of visiting theatre companies.

Although the two companies have different Boards of Management they work very closely together.
