LEM story winners announced
The Unicorn is delighted to announce the winner and runners up of its London Eye Mystery Story Competition!
Congratulations to 11-year-old Reuben McClure from London on winning the competition with his entry The Taj Mahal Mystery.
Well done also to our two runners' up, 11-year-old Alex Jones from Hook, Hampshire, and 14-year-old Aoife Troxel from Co. Galway, Ireland, on their fantastic synopses of The Empire State Mystery and Mystery at Agra.
Head judge and award-winning author Philip Pullman commented:
The opening of a story is always easier to write than the ending, especially if the story is a mystery adventure where things have to be solved and villains have to be overcome. Another important thing is to have your heroes always take the initiative – they must command the events rather than being at their mercy. I enjoyed reading all the stories, but I thought the best one was by REUBEN MCCLURE. Congratulations to everyone, and applause for Reuben!
Also shortlisted were The Mystery of Burj Dubai by 10-year-old Cole Chelton from Brinsley, Nottinghamshire, Ted and Kat's Diamond Mystery by 10-year-old Molly Jones from London, and Adventure in the Pyramids by 10-year-old Emily Loynes from London.
