The six participating schools were Albion , Alma and Eveline Lowe Primary Schools in Southwark and Blue Gate Field’s Junior School , Shapla and St Peter’s C of E London Docks Primary Schools in Tower Hamlets. Approximately 180 children age 6-11 worked with visual artists and word artist Susanna Steele during May, June and July.

Through story and drama the children embarked on a journey as both artists and thinkers, combining word and image to create their own pieces of art, which became an exhibition for their school until the end of the summer term.

However, the journey for the art and written work did not end there. Each school’s work has been brought together to create an installation. In this way, children’s voices will be both seen and heard, their thoughts and experiences shared and their talents and imagination displayed for the enjoyment of the first visitors to the new Unicorn Theatre.
