Youth Theatre

The Unicorn’s Youth Theatre is for people, aged 10 – 16, who are interested in drama and all aspects of making theatre. The groups work with professional directors and artists, exploring their own ideas and creating new theatre.

We currently run three different groups who meet once a week after school with additional sessions during holidays.

After School Sessions:

Currently the groups meet each week from 4.30 – 6pm (term-time only),

Group 1: Tuesdays (Ages 10 – 13)

Group 2: Wednesdays (Ages 14-16)

Group 3: Thursdays (Ages 10 – 13)

Easter Workshops

The groups take part in Easter Workshops with international and UK based theatre companies and practitioners. Recently these have included Improbable Theatre Company, Frantic Assembly and Told by an Idiot. They have also helped with the development of new Unicorn scripts - Billy the Kid and The Red Fortress.

Summer Youth Theatre Project

Members of the Youth Theatre take over the whole of the Unicorn for 2 weeks of the summer. They work closely with a creative team of theatre artists and professionals to devise and stage an original piece of theatre.

The Youth Theatre is open to young people who live or go to school in Southwark or Tower Hamlets. No previous drama experience is needed – just an enthusiasm to take part!

It costs £10 a term (But is free if you are entitled to free school meals.)

Currently all our groups are full but we do have a waiting list. If you would like to be added, please download and fill out the below form and return it to the theatre.
