Behind-the-Scenes Days (2007)
After visiting a morning performance on the Unicorn's Weston stage, a class engages in an afternoon workshop designed to provide a technical overview of how the backstage team facilitate the onstage spectacle day after day.
As part of the Storytelling Festival, the Education Department created storytelling workshops for primary schools as well as whole-day storytelling courses for teachers.
In the Box (2005)
Summer term 2005 saw Unicorn Education undertaking a large scale visual and word art project. The project explored children's ideas about who they are, what they dream, what they believe and what they want us to know.
Lord Mayor's show (2004)
Year 5 from Harry Gosling Primary School, Tower Hamlets worked with the Unicorn and its designers to create their own interpretation of the mythical home of the Unicorn for this year’s parade.
Dorian Project (2004)
Inspired by the myth of Narcissus, who fell in love with his own reflection, this play looked at the concept of beauty and self-image for today’s children/young teenagers.
Transformations (2004)
A site-specific short film capturing the magic and transforming power of theatre. Filmed on location in Southwark around the site of the new Unicorn Theatre building with a cast of Year 6 pupils from Tower Bridge Primary School

A three-year consultation and education project about the design of new Unicorn Theatre with Tower Bridge Primary
Clockwork – An Opera (2004)
A collaborative project with the education department of the Philharmonia Orchestra. Three inner-London primary schools create their own opera ‘The Deadly Deal’, performed at the Linbury Studio Theatre, Royal Opera House
Finders Keepers (2003)
Nursery and Reception class children in Southwark work with story, puppetry and art supporting their visit to the Unicorn/theatre-rites visual, promenade production at the Livesey Museum for Children
Lord Mayor’s Show (2003)
Bigland Green Primary School, in Tower Hamlets work with a Unicorn designer and composer in preparation for their visually stunning and musically exciting participation in the Lord Mayor’s Show.
Future Tense (2003)
A schools residency at Charles Dickens Primary School, Southwark, using drama and video to engage young people in the topic of human cloning and genetics
Diary of an Action Man (2002)
A three-week residency project with Frank Barnes School for the Deaf in Camden and the hearing-impaired unit at Blanche Neville Primary School in Haringey, in collaboration with Graeae Theatre Company
Great Expectations (2002)
A residency project in four primary schools from Southwark and Westminster supporting the Unicorn’s production of this classic Dickens novel
Home Stories (2001-2002)
A cross-artform schools residency using autobiography to reflect and celebrate children’s personal and cultural identity
Red Red Shoes (2001)
A drama and dance project in collaboration with The Place. Residencies in four primary schools in Camden, Southwark and Westminster explored themes from the Unicorn/Place award-winning co-production Red Red Shoes, by Charles Way
Barclays Primary Storytelling (2001-2003)
Barclays staff learn storytelling skills and share them with children at their local Westminster primary school
Story Into Theatre (2000)
Eight primary schools from the London boroughs of Islington, Westminster, Lambeth and Southwark worked with Unicorn Education, actors and a musician to consider key elements of story and devise their own theatrical presentations of the adventures of Anansi.
