Blowing
by Jeroen van den Berg, translated by Rina Vergano
(Holland)

Blowing uses Mother’s birthday present, a broadcast quality video camera as the central prop in this cruel and very funny play about unhappy families. The writer winds scenes back and starts them again, so that Mother can keep up the façade that her birthday that is progressing immaculately. The entire scenario is seen through the eyes of the two teenage children.

Blowing won the Taalunie award for the Best Play in 2003
