Lyrical MC lets you eavesdrop inside the classrooms and corridors of Britain’s diverse secondary schools. Revealing a subtext of allegiances and rivalries, watch students jostle to assert their identities and make sense of each other.
Created from students’ real-life stories and performed by young actors from Southwark, it offers a rhythmic, multi-lingual journey through a typical school day.
Each show will be followed by a short Q&A with the cast, director Kristine Landon-Smith and writer Sita Brahmachari.
In addition, the 2pm performance on 7 Feb will be followed by a panel discussion on how theatre can explore diversity in the education system and promote cross-cultural understanding in this area. This is largely aimed at theatre makers and educationalists.
Running time 40 minutes.
