Carmen (Zuniga's Story)
by Bizet with a new English translation by Fraser Grant with adaptation by Anthony Scales

Regeneration in Harmony, brings First Act Opera professionals together with students from three Walworth Schools to present a contemporary version of Bizet’s Carmen. The production will combine dance, influenced from Flamenco and Moorish African Culture in Southern Spain and have a new English translation that children will be able understand, engage with and really enjoy being part of.

"We are very excited about the project 'Regeneration in Harmony' because of the wide range of opportunities it offers to our pupils. We find the creative arts a key tool in engaging our children, and are a successful way of raising self-esteem and commitment to learning." Elizabeth Robinson, Head Teacher, Surrey Square School.

The production is produced by First Act Opera's founder, John von Nuding, with artistic director Fraser Grant, chorographer Bryony Williams and musical director Kenneth Roberts. The title role will be played by Grace Trinnaman.

The performance lasts about 75 minutes and is suitable for children aged 8 and over.
