Unicorn Theatre presents
Twelfth Night
By William Shakespeare
Shipwrecked and washed-up on the shores of Illyria, Viola disguises herself as a man, heads into town and gets a job with the Duke, Orsino. Her task is to persuade Olivia, the object of Orsino’s unrequited love, to marry the Duke. But instead, Olivia falls for Viola, who of course she thinks is a man. Meanwhile, just to add to the confusion, Viola’s identical twin brother Sebastian fetches up in Illyria too…
Twelfth Night is one of Shakespeare’s best-loved comedies, and a perfect introduction to anyone experiencing his plays for the first time. The production will be be performed in the round, allowing audiences to gain the full benefits of the Unicorn's intimate auditorium.
"The Unicorn Ensemble completes its first year’s work with a delightful, imaginatively staged version of Twelfth Night ... piercing to the heart of the play’s beauty, melancholy and sexual ambiguity." ****
