'I would there were no age between thirteen and twenty, or that youth would sleep out the rest; for there is nothing in between but getting wenches with child, wronging the ancientry, stealing and fighting.'
Shakespeare, The Winter’s Tale

Even Shakespeare had his suspicions that teenagers were nothing but trouble?
Why is adolescence important?
Do teenagers have a bad reputation? If so – How can you challenge that?

Join TOOT in a two-day workshop experience, to create an original performance from scratch. Using sound, multimedia and space in unexpected ways, participants will work as an ensemble to create a performance that explores what it’s like to be young in 2018.

Working with a text provided by TOOT as a stimulus, participants will also share their own ideas and writings, to create a collage script rooted in both their life experience, and imagination.

Using TOOT’s distinctive immersive and interactive style, the workshop aims to ignite participants ideas and potential for creating unusual audience experiences and methods of communicating story.

We'll be exploring techniques such as:
  •  Creating short multi sensory experiences or interactive games for the audience
  • Visual and ensemble practical storyboarding
  • Live camera feed
  •  Incorporating sound design with music and text
  • Developing spatial experiences for audiences

Who is it for?
The workshop is for children aged 12-16 years old. All places must be booked in advance. No grown-ups allowed!

This workshop will appeal to young people who enjoy performing, however previous experience is not necessary and if a particular participant is interested but lacking in confidence then we will support that individual to develop their creativity and confidence throughout the day.

• Themed activities and workshop led by professional artists
