Scrunch FAQ

Frequently asked questions

We understand that bringing your baby to the theatre for the first time can be a big step. Here are some of our frequently asked questions about the show, to help you plan your trip with confidence.

We want your baby to have a great first experience of theatre, so we’ve set our age guidance to reflect this (6-18 months). The show will be sensory and a very new environment for a lot of little ones (and parents). We want everyone to feel relaxed, so this means not overwhelming our very youngest audience members by admitting children who might be slightly too old to the performance.

How long is the show?
The performance lasts between 30 and 40 minutes - depending on how much the babies laugh! This includes an opportunity at the end to stay and play with some objects (sanitised, of course!) and to dance in your seating area to some wonderful retro tracks.

Where will we sit?
You and your baby can sit on clearly marked floor seating on comfy mats, or benches at the back for those who find it difficult to sit on the floor. You have to reserve specific seating when you book, and we ask that you and your baby remain in your chosen seating throughout the show.

Does my baby need to be quiet?
No! We’re really keen to encourage the babies to respond however they like - gurgling, laughing, commenting (if they’ve started talking), or hiccupping! If your baby does get unsettled by this new experience (even though it’s been designed to be a relaxing introduction to theatre), we often find that by you simply standing up and moving slightly further away, relaxes them enough for them to stay watching the performance. Obviously, if your baby gets really upset, then it’s a good idea to take them outside but you’re very welcome to come back in as soon as they’ve had a feed or a cuddle and calmed down.

Can I breast-feed during the show?
Absolutely! The babies’ comfort is most important to us.

Is there somewhere to change my baby?
There are changing facilities in all toilets on basement level, with cleaning products supplied. There will also be a changing table and nappy bin in the foyer area.

Where will I park my pram/buggy?
When you arrive you can relax with your baby at a table in our spacious foyer, until a host asks you to park your buggy in the designated buggy park before you go into the theatre. All tables will be two metres apart and limited to one household or support bubble.

Will I enjoy the performance too?
We hope so - we are so excited to be welcoming babies and their grown-ups into the theatre again.

What drinks and snacks are available?
There isn’t a cafe in the venue at the moment, but you’re welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks with you to have in our foyer before or after the show. We do ask you to avoid eating in the auditorium where possible, although if you need to give your baby a quick snack if they're getting upset then please do.

Is Scrunch a socially distanced performance?
Yes, we’re using a socially distanced reserved seating plan which means all groups are spaced apart from each other. We're also playing to less than half of our capacity in the auditorium (45 rather than 110). Tickets can be purchased in groups of 2 or 3 (1 baby + 1 adult, or 1 baby + 2 adults), if there are two babies in your group please call the Box Office on 020 7645 0560 or email

We’ve been granted the use of Society Of London Theatre & UK Theatre’s ‘See It Safely‘ mark. The mark certifies that we’re complying with the latest Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines.
