Explore our award-winning building!

Step behind the scenes for an exclusive guided tour of our purpose-built, multi-award-winning building.

Our theatre was designed by Keith Williams Architects and opened by Lord Attenborough on 1 December 2005. Our venue comprises of a 350 seat theatre, a theatre studio and rehearsal spaces and is considered to be the UK's leading professional theatre, dedicated to producing inspiring and invigorating work for young audiences.

All tours are free but must be pre-booked, and take place between 10.30am and 5pm starting every half an hour.

This year, due to the pandemic, we are limiting tours to groups of six and we have put extra measures in place. See below for further information.

If you no longer require your ticket, if you haven't received a booking confirmation, please contact us by email at boxoffice@unicorntheatre.com

Our COVID safety measures

To ensure your visit is safe and enjoyable, we have put in place extra measures:

What we ask of you:

  • The booker's details will be used for track and trace - we need to ensure we have a name, phone number and email in case we need to contact you.
  • We ask all visitors to wear a face mask at all times in the building (unless you are exempt or aged 12 or under) and use hand santiser on arrival.
  • Everyone who enters the building will need to undergo a temperature check.
  • Visitors must maintain a two metre distance from others not in their household or social bubble.

What we are doing:

  • Only those booked on the tour will be able to enter the building. Bookers can only enter at the time of their tour.
  • We have reduced the tour group size and frequency to ensure tours are well spaced out.
  • There will be smaller tour groups that normal and a one-way system in place around the building.
  • The tour will avoid any small or confined spaces.
  • All staff will wear visors, regularly use hand sanitiser and have had a temperature check at the start and end of their shift.
  • Handrails and surfaces will be cleaned between tours.
  • Our cafe will be closed so no food or drink will be on offer.
  • Toilets will be cleaned regularly and numbers of people in the bathrooms limited.
  • The lifts are limited to one person plus a companion at any time, and restricted to wheelchair users and anyone with mobility issues.
