A hopeful, energetic and urgent story

“Does anyone really know where their story starts?
Do you?
Maybe it only really starts when you tell it.
Maybe it’s starting right now.”

Hopeful, energetic and urgent, When This Is Over is a new performance created on Zoom and in socially distanced workshops through the pandemic, with seven young members of Company Three, all aged 14 – 18.

While grappling with the global future in their hands, these young people want to share with us the extraordinary, funny and sometimes embarrassing small moments that make up a life – from their childhood pasts, all the way through the pandemic and to the impossible imagined hope of what is to come.

When this Is Over is a chance for these young people to have their say, staged to coincide with the international climate change conference (COP26) this November as world leaders gather to determine our collective future.

Their work includes Brainstorm (Park Theatre, National Theatre, BBC iPlayer), Boat (Battersea Arts Centre), The Act (The Yard Theatre), The Best Day Ever! (Pleasance Theatre) and Everything (Platform Islington).
'A remarkable theatrical act of optimism by a bunch of funny, fearless and utterly engaging teenagers ... full of heart.' Lyn Gardner on Company Three’s Everything

Company Three are collaborating with youth theatre and school groups across the UK, supporting them to make their own versions of When This Is Over. Together they will build a shared database of stories told by young people about their lives, available for anyone who wants to better understand the teenagers at this pivotal moment in history.
