In 2026 we celebrate 20 years in our Tooley Street building. We love the venue and all the amazing productions that have taken place in it, however, it is now in urgent need of refurbishment.

This project is essential to our future. It aligns our infrastructure with our mission and will ensure the Unicorn thrives as a national leader in children’s theatre and civic life. Without it, our work and building will be at severe risk by 2030.

Aims of the project

• To increase the Unicorn’s economic sustainability by reducing energy and maintenance costs, enabling summer performances, more commercial hires, and attracting new partners

• To decrease the risk and financial impact of cancellations and ultimate closure caused by infrastructure failure

• To grow audience engagement through improved comfort and accessibility within our building

• To grow our community connection – inviting our local community into our building to make connections and reduce social isolation
