The Man Who Knows It All

A Theater Artemis / Maas Theater co-production

Behind every answer lies a new question.

  • Conceived and directed by Jetse Batelaan

★★★★ 'Silly and sophisticated comedy perfectly tailored for the curiosity of a young audience' The Stage

Is it possible to know everything? The man who knows it all seems to think it is.

Two performers and a musician go on a quest in search of everything it is possible to know. Along the way it becomes evident that the questions and answers just keep coming, especially when the audience gets involved. Knowing everything is more difficult than we imagine.

A tribute to not really knowing much about anything, an awkward and hapless man and his sidekick fail spectacularly again and again in front of a mercilessly curious audience.

Winner of the Silver Cricket Award for Best Production, 2014:
'The show kicks off with a catchy song...: ‘Here’s the man who knows it all, he’s unforgettable’. Until the arrogant man-who-knows-it-all starts to make mistakes, and his young viewers are compelled to call out suggestions to help him, creating a sense of chaos and anarchy that is rarely evoked or allowed in theatres.'

'Van‘t Hof plays with his young audience like a seasoned entertainer while adults recognize existential questions. Outlandish.'

★★★★ Volkskrant

'Director Jetse Batelaan has managed to rouse his audience, ranging from the very young to grownups, and make them roar with laughter.'

'..WITH HIS POKER FACES, PLEADING EYES, CRAZY DANCES AND COCKY JUGGLING ACT WITH A XYLOPHONE AND STICKS, is so downright good... that you don't know where to look'
