Play in a week Summer 2015

SOLD OUT! Check out the 2016 dates

These intensive drama courses, specially designed by the Unicorn, are creative, fun and challenging.

Participants will work with a professional theatre director to hone their theatre-making skills while working towards an original performance on the Unicorn stage. The group will have access to our props and costume store and full support from our technical team who provide lighting and sound for the show. Friends and family are invited to watch the final Friday afternoon performance for free.

The emphasis in these workshops will be on creating a supportive environment where everyone’s contribution is recognised and valued. This course will appeal to young people who enjoy performing, however previous acting experience is not necessary as we tailor the experience to the individual.

FOR 7 - 10s
Mon 20 – Fri 24 Jul
Over the week, rehearse and perform Philip Osment’s play, Of the Terrifying Events on the Hamelin Estate. This contemporary satire, specially written for young people, brings the Pied Piper legend up-to-date. You will learn professional warm-up and rehearsal techniques, take on multiple roles, learn lines, develop your characters and create a full production of this 30-minute play.

FOR 11 - 14s
Mon 27 – Fri 31 Jul (Weston Theatre)
To tie in with the Unicorn’s 10th anniversary celebrations, the company will devise a show from scratch that uses the theme past, present and future as a starting point. With support and guidance from the director you will develop your devising skills, learn how to shape your ideas into a show, and further enhance your vocal, physical and performance styles and skills.

Places are £450 per week, the price includes: a healthy and nutritious lunch provided throughout the week by LEON restaurants; access to download professional, high-resolution production photographs; and an exclusive Play in a Week t-shirt.
