WILLIAM ECCLESHARE NAMED NEXT CHAIR OF THE BOARD FOR THE UNICORN THEATRE
The Unicorn Theatre has today announced the appointment of William Eccleshare as its next Chair of the Board.
Eccleshare was a board member of Donmar Warehouse for nine years and is currently Chair of the Design Council, the UK Government’s strategic advisor on Design. He is also Chair of London-centric FTSE 250 real estate business Great Portland Estates and marketing technology business ITG.
William Eccleshare, incoming Chair of the Board, said: "I was lucky to experience the magic of live performance as a child, and it has stayed with me ever since. I'm delighted to be joining the nation’s leading theatre for children at such an exciting moment, as the Unicorn brings to life its ambitious future plans. I look forward to working with the team to make sure that even more young people can have their own first encounter with theatre."
Rebekah Jones, Executive Director of the Unicorn Theatre, said: “We are delighted to welcome William as Chair of the Board. His experience and insight will be invaluable as we continue to develop the Unicorn’s work and strengthen our position as the national theatre for young people. I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Dr Vanessa Ogden CBE for her leadership and commitment as Chair, and to Dominic Griffiths for his support and guidance as Interim Chair.
We are incredibly lucky to have such a supportive and engaged Board who believe in us, our ambitions and what we can achieve together. Rachel and I are really looking forward to working with William and our Trustees as we build on everything we have achieved and look ahead to an exciting next chapter for the Unicorn.”
